One Day Workshops and Private Bookings

My workshops take place in my studio at Edinburgh Palette on London Rd, Edinburgh EH7 6AE, where I teach classes to up to 6 people and 7 for children’s sessions.

Most of the workshops I offer are taught at a beginner level but I do have some for those with more experience such as cabochon stone setting and Keum boo. I also offer private, group workshops.

All materials, tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.

  • Spinner Ring £100

    Suitable for all levels, 16+yrs

    This is my most popular workshop!

    You will learn how to size your finger then cut, file and texture, solder and shape your silver, enabling you to create a tactile, unique ring which will be polished and ready to wear at the end of the class. You will make a completely unique ring, no two are ever the same!

  • Stacking Rings £100

    This popular workshop is suitable for all levels, 15+yrs.

    You will be shown how to size your finger, shape, solder, twist, wave, hammer and finish different styles of silver wire to make up to 5 contrasting stacking rings, polished and ready to wear home at the end of the day!

    One ring can include a stone, or a silver accent, which is included in the price. You will be using a saw, files, hammers and soldering equipment.

  • Ring Making £80

    This workshop is suitable for all levels, 16yrs + and is the perfect way to introduce basic jewellery making techniques to the complete beginner.

    You will learn how to measure your finger, cut your silver, hammer and solder your ring. You will be able to add words, numbers, patterns and textures to your ring which will be polished up by the end of the session.

  • Cabochon Stone Setting £120

    Suitable for all levels 16+yrs +

    To make a silver pendant, pair of earrings or ring with a cabochon stone you will be shown jewellery making techniques such as cutting, filing, roll printing, soldering and how to make a bezel setting in silver. I will provide you with a selection of round, oval and teardrop cabochon stones to choose from but you are welcome to use your own. You will be designing your own piece of jewellery so it would be helpful to have some ideas in mind!

  • Stacking gemstone rings £85

    Suitable for all levels 15+yrs

    In this workshop you will make 3 sterling silver gem set rings which can be worn stacked together, or separately!

    You will learn how to measure your finger and create delicate rings, adding pre- made silver settings for semi precious, cabochon stones. I will provide you with all materials, including stones, and your rings will be polished and ready to wear at the end of the session.

  • Bangle Making £125

    This workshop is suitable for all levels, 16+yrs

    You will learn how to make 3 contrasting silver bangles to fit your wrist. You will measure, cut, solder, texture, twist, wave and finish your bangles - each made from a different shape of silver wire. You will be using hammers and punches ( including letters and numbers) to shape and pattern your bangles, which will be polished up by the end of the session.

  • Cuff Making £100

    Suitable for all levels, 16+yrs

    This workshop can be as simple or complex as you wish! No soldering is involved, however depending on your design, I will have soldering equipment available.

    You will learn how to measure your wrist to make a cuff to fit you then cut, pattern, personalise and texture different styles of silver wire or sheet using a rolling mill, hammers and stamps. You will shape your metal into a cuff, ready to be finished and polished.

  • Earring/Pendant Making £100

    Suitable for all levels, 15+yrs

    In this creative class, you can make silver earrings or a pendant, or both!

    Using silver sheet and wire, you will be shown a variety of techniques but will be designing your own pieces, so it would be useful to have some ideas in mind! Don't worry if you don't, I have lots of samples to look at!

    You will learn how to cut, file, texture, solder, shape and finish your silver then add sterling silver fittings. You can then polish your finished designs.

  • Keum boo (an introduction) £100

    Suitable for those with basic jewellery making experience 16+yrs (eg, to have an understanding of soldering, sawing and filing silver)

    Keum boo is an ancient Korean technique of applying 24k gold foil to silver, using heat.

    During this workshop I will show you how to prepare your metal so you can successfully design and create a pair of earrings, a pendant or a ring with an eye catching keum-boo effect.

    You will be designing your own pieces, so it would be useful to have some ideas in mind. You will be provided with enough silver sheet to make at least one piece (or pair) and any additional silver, gold, chain and ear wires required can be purchased during the class.

  • Russian Wedding Ring £100 or Bangle £125

    Suitable for all levels 16+yrs

    Traditionally, Russian wedding rings are three interlocking bands of rose, white and yellow gold symbolising the past, present and future of the couple.

    In this workshop you will make three sterling silver rings creating a ring or bangle based on this unusual design. You will learn how to size your finger or hand, saw, shape, solder and polish your piece.

  • Make a Silver Spoon £100

    Suitable for beginners and those with basic jewellery making experience 16+yrs

    You will make one spoon, approx 10cm in length, using sterling silver sheet and wire.

    You will learn how to cut, shape and decorate the handle and the bowl then connect them. Your beautiful, completely original spoon can then be polished up and ready to take home, or give as a gift!

    Perfect for family groups, hen parties, birthdays, general getting together, reconnecting and learning something new! I can offer you a workshop exclusively for your group, you will have full use of the studio!

    I try to keep the last Saturday or Sunday of every month aside for a private booking. Minimum is 3 people and maximum 7 (children included) I can do smaller workshops however they will cost more.

    A deposit of £50 is required to secure a date.

    **It is not possible to mix these workshops, unless it is earrings or pendants which can be made in the same class.

Terms and conditions:

Bookings are taken on a first come, first served basis and require payment in advance to secure your place. For payment options please email me: leahbastiani@gmail.com

Leah Bastiani Jewellery reserves the right to cancel courses if the circumstances dictate, or if there are fewer than 3 students enrolled. If this happens you will be offered an alternative class or a full refund.

Should you need to cancel your place on any class, it must be done at least 2 weeks prior to the class starting to receive a full refund. If a place is cancelled a week prior to the class starting you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given if a cancellation is made in the week leading up to, or on the day of the first class.

All persons must have full use of their eyes and hands for all classes. Any impairment which might affect you or the class must be made known to Leah Bastiani Jewellery prior to booking to determine suitability to the class and whether any special requirements need to be made.

Health and safety:

At all times, instructions of the tutor must be followed. Failure to do so may result in injury to self or third party and could result in being asked to leave the class permanently without a refund. Leah Bastiani Jewellery has the right to remove any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs from the class permanently, without a refund.
